Why We Chose Wool Over Polystyrene
As the founder of The Pet Platter, I knew from the start that I didn’t want to pack your dog's food in polystyrene.
Polystyrene is cheap, yes — but it’s also one of the least sustainable packaging materials out there. It’s difficult to recycle, lingers in landfills, and doesn’t align with what we stand for: natural, thoughtful, dog-first nutrition with a minimal environmental pawprint.
That’s why we use WoolPac™ insulation for every box we ship. It’s made from 100% natural sheep’s wool, wrapped in recyclable food-safe film. Not only does it provide superior thermal insulation to keep your raw food frozen, but it’s also fully recyclable and biodegradable.
We pair this with:
- Sturdy cardboard outer boxes (also recyclable),
- 1kg gel ice packs, and
- sustainable celotape for a fully secure, low-impact delivery.
